Abstract

IoT technology, through sensors and big data analysis, enables interconnection among various urban systems, providing novel solutions for smart city construction that significantly improve urban management and residents’ quality of life.

Main Text

Traditional urban management relies on manual inspections and fragmented monitoring, which struggle to respond in real time to emergencies. IoT technology deploys a vast network of sensors to collect and process real-time data on traffic, environment, and public safety, greatly enhancing the efficiency of urban operations. Cities in Europe, America, Japan, and China have already implemented preliminary smart city management systems.

Although IoT offers the benefits of real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making, it still faces challenges in data privacy, security, and device interoperability. In the future, with the proliferation of 5G and integration with edge computing, IoT will achieve higher levels of information sharing and intelligent management, further improving urban living environments.

Conclusion

IoT holds tremendous promise for smart city construction, addressing delays and slow response issues inherent in traditional management methods. As technologies mature and standards are established, smart cities will gradually evolve toward fully intelligent management.
